I was standing in line at the grocery store. The lady in front of me had a bunch of stuff for a big meal, including a package of Chinese noodles. It was a big package, as big as a small pillow, and the long, white noodles inside looked like a sample of attic insulation. The girl bagging the lady's groceries had never seen them before. She held up the package and said, "Is this like food?"
She didn't say, "Is this, like, food?" or "Is THIS like... FOOD?" The word "like" just randomly got stuck in there. I thought, maybe grocery stores have a classification system: there's food, and then there's like food-- stuff that could be food if you really needed food, or if you already had enough attic insulation.
She even repeated, "Is this like food?" when the lady didn't hear her the first time. |

You never know When someone May catch a dream From you... You never know When a little word Or something You may do Might open up The shutters For a mind That seeks the light. The way you live May not matter at all But you never know ... It might. |
