I was in a pretty good mood yesterday... until I walked out of the store and discovered someone had stolen the license plate off the back of my van! I called the cops, and the Broken Arrow Police responded in a timely manner. I was only in the store about 20 minutes or so. I've got a dorky handwritten tag taped up in my back window for now, and after work today I'll go see about getting a replacement plate. The state just issued brand new plates a couple of months ago! Sheesh, what a hassle. |

Well, my car has heat again. This is good, it being winter and all. I hadn't been able to use it for a long time because of an awful noise from behind the dashboard. It sounded like the car was about to blow up or something. The noise erupted every time I turned on the fan for the heater, the air conditioner, or the defrost... but, if I didn't use it for a while, the noise would go away. Until it came back. I've asked several mechanics, who suggested replacing the alternator, the compressor, and various other (expensive) things.
Today, when I got the oil changed, the mechanic suggested it might be the air blend door. This is basically a valve that directs air flow. If it gets stuck, air blowing around it makes it rattle, which might very well be the cause of the noise. Unfortunately, it seems the only way to get to it is to remove the dashboard-- a major (expensive) undertaking. The mechanic said that if it starts making noise again, I can still use the heater; the car won't blow up. His suggestion? "Just turn up the radio." |

My car is close to clicking over 100,000 miles, probably today or tomorrow. I've put over 13,000 miles on my car just since last August.
...But traveling isn't the same as advancing yourself, or making progress towards being a better person. Lately, I've let myself be distracted from what's important in my life, from what makes my life worthwhile. My stupidity gene must have kicked in. If any feelings have been hurt in the process, I'm very, very sorry. |
