Okay, since everybody seems to already have plans for the weekend, I'm gonna postpone my pool party until Friday, July 17th. This will give a chance for all my friends going to to the White Hart Renaissance Faire in Missouri to take an evening off and chill out in my pool. I'll post more details as the day gets closer.

In other news, I mixed up a batch of Wharrgarbl Beer this evening. It should be ready in a couple of weeks. This'll be my last batch until I get a bigger setup, where I'll be able to make five gallons at a time. You betcha!

Forgive me if I'm senile and have asked this before and forgotten - but in Oklahoma, in this heat, how/where are you storing it during fermentation? Either ale or lager, unless you've got a dedicated fridge, are going to be complicated to keep at a steady temp?

That was a legitimate concern when I first started brewing my own stuff. I've found it's not so much a steady temp as a steady temp range (between 66 and 76 degrees F). So far, I've had success keeping the stuff out of direct sunlight in a corner of the kitchen of my house which, thanks to central heat, we keep a pretty constant temperature. Results have been pretty good so far.

It would be better if I had a basement, but ya work with what ya got.

Ahh, ok. I didn't know it could stand that much variation, but of course stands to reason. In this heat our house has been running a bit higher than 76 when we're not here but maybe once it cools off a bit in Sept. . .
Last time I brewed I had a basement. I keep thinking I'll try again. Maybe this time I won't end up with 20 proof cider (tasting) instead of beer :)

I suspected you'd be postponing, based on the comments on your last post about this gathering. Please do keep us posted. I know I keep saying and saying that I'm going to make it out to some shindig or another, but I really do want to make it out. (Read: Please don't give up on me!)

Sounds fun! I'm most likely in, barring catastrophe.

(Gives the boy plenty of time to get the pool sparking clean, doesn't it?) *laughs like a loon and digs out a sturdier swimsuit*
